life in the south

We're alive and well in VA. We were hot for a few days since our air conditioning was busted when we first arrived, but the profuse sweating slowly tapered off starting at about 9:30 am today. That's when the dinky little fan motor capacitor was replaced and the AC kicked back on. We're still rehydrating.

So far, we have accrued a new sofa and loveseat, and couple of bookcases, an ottoman, and a guest bed. We've unpacked various tidbits and given up others for lost. I've tried out two grocery stores and nearly sobbed for Wegmans. Dear Western New Yorkers, APPRECIATE WEGMANS. Nothing else comes close. And the store I think I'll go with has a silly name - Harris Teeter. It doesn't roll off the tongue like Weggies.

We are leaving for Houston on Friday to spend time with Monte's family and meet our newest niece, Marin. It will be lovely to be without household chores for a short while. More later.
